Privacy Policy

NityaPooja ("the App") is a devotional companion app developed for personal spiritual practice. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects and how it is used.

Information We Collect

The App may collect the following information, all of which is stored locally on your device:

• Name (optional, for personalization)
• City/Location (for Panchangam calculations such as sunrise/sunset times)
• Date and time of birth (optional, for astrological features like Jataka Chakram and Guna Milan)
• Bookmarks, reading history, and japa session data
• App preferences (theme, font size, notification settings)

How We Use Your Information

All information is used solely to provide App functionality:

• Location data is used to calculate accurate Panchangam (sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kaal, etc.) for your city
• Birth information is used for astrological calculations within the App
• Bookmarks and history are used to personalize your experience
• Preferences are used to customize the App appearance and notifications

Data Storage & Security

All the personal information listed above — your name, location, birth details, bookmarks, reading history, and japa sessions — is stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms (Room Database and DataStore on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS). We never upload it to our servers, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

The App makes network requests only to: download devotional audio and updated content from our content servers, and send anonymous usage and crash information to Firebase (see Analytics & Crash Reporting below). No personal data is sent during content downloads.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services:

• Firebase Analytics: Used to record anonymous, aggregate usage data — which screens are opened and which features are used — so we can improve the App. See the Analytics & Crash Reporting section below for exactly what is and is not recorded.
• Firebase Crashlytics: Used to collect anonymous crash reports and performance data to improve App stability. No personally identifiable information is collected.
• Spotify SDK: Used optionally to play devotional music. Requires user-initiated connection to their Spotify account.
• Google Text-to-Speech: Used to synthesize Sankalpam audio. The text of your personalized Sankalpam is sent to Google's TTS API. Audio is cached locally after the first request.

We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to any other third parties.

Analytics & Crash Reporting

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are actually used, so we can improve the ones that matter. This is anonymous, aggregate usage data — it is not linked to your name or any account, because the App has no accounts.

What is recorded:

• Which screens you open, and how often
• Which features you use — for example completing a japa mala, bookmarking or sharing content, playing audio, using Listen (text-to-speech), switching script, or running a search
• Anonymous device and app information (device model, OS version, app version, general country/region) and a randomly generated app instance identifier

What is never recorded:

• Your name, gotra, nakshatra, or birth date and time
• Your exact location or coordinates — Panchangam calculations happen entirely on your device
• The text you type into search, or the contents of your bookmarks, sankalpams, or family details

For searches we record only the length of the query, the filter used, and how many results were found — never the words themselves.

The App also uses Firebase Crashlytics for anonymous crash reports and performance data. Firebase is operated by Google and processes this data under Google's Privacy Policy. You can stop all analytics collection by uninstalling the App.

Advertising

The App is completely free and does not display any advertisements. We do not use any advertising SDKs, and no advertising identifiers are collected or shared.

Affiliate Links

The App contains a Devotional Store section that displays product links to Amazon. These are affiliate links — as an Amazon Associate, we earn a small commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Clicking a product link will open the Amazon website or app. Amazon's own privacy policy governs any data collected during your purchase.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your personal data at any time by going to Settings → Data & Privacy → Clear My Data within the App. You can also uninstall the App to remove all data from your device.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is a devotional tool suitable for all ages and does not require account creation or personal data submission.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the App and on this page with an updated date.
